Prague Trip

8-11 April 2009 - Prague Trip during Easter break with Indah, Mokrish & Gaya

The complete photo collection was never published in this blog because I started blogging on 29 April 2009. Actually, I just found the folder containing all my travel photos - I thought they were all lost during reformatting. Now let's (re)visit Prague! :)

Czech koruna
The dancing house, Fred & Ginger
Arrived at Cesky Krumlov, after a 2-hour journey from Prague city
The view that greeted us
Another view from the old castle
Walking the alley of Cesky Krumlov. The lady with umbrella was our tour guide
Medieval inspired things for sale
My vegetarian lunch - grilled cheese, boiled potatoes and garden salad with sour cream and radish
Breathtakingly beautiful
The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site is nestles in a bend of the Vltava River, surrounded by rolling countryside and the wooded Šumava Hills
Bears of the castle - during old time, the aristocrats loved collecting bears

Of course we got to see inside the castle, but no photographs are allowed. All I can say is that it's a wonderful medieval castle. Go visit!
The next day. This is Wenceslas Square
Indah at the Old Town Square - while waiting for the tour bus to Prague Castle
The Church of Our Lady before Tyn at the Old Town Square - there's some Disneyland feel to this sight, I feel
Arrived at Prague Castle. This is St. Vitus Cathedral in the castle compound.
Beautiful stained glass window of the cathedral
Another view of St. Vitus Cathedral
Tourists admiring the cathedral's exterior
A part of church and monastery of St George at Prague Castle - Adam & Eve tower. Adam is bigger, on the right
Walking the alley of Prague Castle
Must do - eat ice cream anywhere and everywhere during a trip
The view from St. Wenceslas´Vineyard at Prague Castle. The castle sits atop a hill, overlooking Prague city and Vltava river
We met Fatimah & Omar, 2 Malaysian medical students by Vlatava river
Hard Rock Cafe - in the four-story, V.J.Rott building with a beautifully decorated neo-Renaissance façade and frescos - is situated less than 50 meters from the famous Old Town Square
With Prague Astronomical Clock (Prague Orloj) - a medieval astronomical clock, mounted on the wall of Old Town City Hall in the Old Town Square
Trying trdlo - tastes just like a pretzel dusted with sugar
On the last day, we went back to Wenceslas Square
Wenceslas Square
That's a tram carriage converted to a cafe
I guess this is a tour office or something
Ahh, those days.. When we're still single :)
Yummy looking pastries
Having McDonald's sundae at Prague
I just love the illustration. I have no idea what it's saying
A photo at the Easter Market

Looking back at these photos is just like walking down a memory lane. So precious. During that time, Gaya & Mokrish were PhD students while Indah & I were completing our MSc at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Both Gaya & Mokrish have successfully completed their PhD and are now back in UPM as lecturers while Indah is now at University of Edinburgh, pursuing a PhD with dear husband and a toddler in tow :)

Mulan - Kalau ada kesempatan, pergilah Prague ketika musim bunga/panas. Jgn la pergi time autumn/winter. Ada kwn gi time sejuk kelam, dia kata Prague tak best langsung. Hehe.. Prague relatively cheap la kalau banding dengan European destination yg lain. Dah tak boleh recall harga makanan, etc.. Lama dah..
