Since 2002

Bila kawan-kawan sejak zaman berhingus sama-sama di UPM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 2002-2007) berjumpa di London, meriah kau! Perjumpaan orang Malaysia wajiblah bertemankan makanan dan aktiviti makan-makan. Sebenarnya kami berjumpa dua kali, gambar-gambar ni masa perjumpaan kedua di Tukdin Flavours of Malaysia (9/1/2013).

Masa degree pun kami roommates. She's one of my close friends.
Fazlan (suami Che Dah) & Hj Ihsan. Hj Ihsan ni course mate DVM jugak. Dia baru mulakan program phd di Imperial College pada November tahun lepas. Bertambah koleksi kawan-kawan rapatku di kota London. Hik hik sukaaa
Starters malam tu - satay goreng & keropok udang. Makan sambil borak-borak, tunggu my husband datang join. Dia habis kerja jam 8.45 malam dan boleh jalan kaki (7 minit) je ke Tukdin
Kami semua sepakat nak makan nasi dengan lauk-pauk. Order punya order dah penuh semeja. Ikan siakap rasa khas, ayam masak merah, daging salai masak lemak cili api, sambal udang tomato, telur dadar & pasembur. Tu diaa masing-masing punya selera. My husband sampai just in time sebelum starters dibawak lari waitress. Hehe..
Sayangnya malam tu nasi putih untuk 5 orang dibagi dalam mangkuk kecik ni, portion memang tak cukup. Kena mintak tambah & waitress tanya "nak nasik tambah untuk berapa orang lagi?" I was quite surprised sebab selalunya kalau kami laki bini order nasik putih, nasik yang diletak dalam pinggan kami memang cukup. Tak sangka pulak bila dibagi dalam mangkuk ni portionnya kedekut. Walau apa pun, makanan di Tukdin sangat sedap. Satay House punya makanan tak sedap. Satay yang sepatutnya jadi specialty Satay House pun tak boleh lawan satay goreng Tukdin.
Gambar selepas makan. Meja pun dah dikemas bersih. Muka masing-masing macam orang sembelit sebab banyak sangat meratah lauk-pauk. Hehe
Nak balik dah. Masing-masing menuju ke stesen bas Lancaster Gate. Jalan laju sebab sejuk.
Tak balik tangan kosong. Che Dah & suami hadiahkan macam-macam untuk baby. Kata dorang, takut tak dapat datang jenguk lepas bersalin nanti. Alahai terima kasih banyak-banyak, terharuu... :)

Catching up

Dah lama tak jumpa sahabat sorang ni sebab dia rajin melancong. Haritu dia ke Panama seminggu, kemudian ke India pulak 3 minggu. Lepas dia touch down di London, terus whatsapp ajak lunch sama. Baiklah. Jom! :)

We had lunch at a Thai restaurant. Ni 3 jenis appetizers - Meuk Kra Tiem (calamari  with garlic & pepper sauce),  scallops in soy dressing & dim sum
My main - pad thai with prawn
Ni lah kawan baik kita, Noelia namanya. Dia ni buat phD part time, separuh masa lagi dia adalah Named Veterinary Surgeon di RVC & King's College. She's a laboratory animal vet too, so we have a lot in common. Gigih u'olls, buat phD part time. Pengsannn
Ini kawan Noelia, Rosana. Dia orang Argentina sama mcm Noelia. Diorang ni baru lepas bersenam di gym. Kita? Kita takde gym-gym, kalau ajak gi makan je kita kata YES :P
Lepas dah kenyang makan sembang-sembang tadi, rupa-rupanya ada hati lagi nak singgah minum kopi. Sejuk katanya. Memang pun, semalam suhu 9'C. Walaupun ayatnya "let's go get some coffee", maksudnya jom cari dessert sekali. Hee..
We shared a banana pie & moist carrot cake. Sambil makan minum, seronok dengar cerita diorang di India, sebijik gambaran filem The Exotic Marigold Hotel

Ok lah, tu aje nak cerita. Oh lagi satu nak cerita, si Noelia ni super duper friendly, rasanya dah ramai kawan-kawan dia yang jadi kawan kita. Apa-apa pun, syukur sangat-sangat ada kawan sehati sejiwa sepanjang buat phD ni, kalau tak, tekanan perasaan lah jadinya..

Prague Trip

8-11 April 2009 - Prague Trip during Easter break with Indah, Mokrish & Gaya

The complete photo collection was never published in this blog because I started blogging on 29 April 2009. Actually, I just found the folder containing all my travel photos - I thought they were all lost during reformatting. Now let's (re)visit Prague! :)

Czech koruna
The dancing house, Fred & Ginger
Arrived at Cesky Krumlov, after a 2-hour journey from Prague city
The view that greeted us
Another view from the old castle
Walking the alley of Cesky Krumlov. The lady with umbrella was our tour guide
Medieval inspired things for sale
My vegetarian lunch - grilled cheese, boiled potatoes and garden salad with sour cream and radish
Breathtakingly beautiful
The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site is nestles in a bend of the Vltava River, surrounded by rolling countryside and the wooded Šumava Hills
Bears of the castle - during old time, the aristocrats loved collecting bears

Of course we got to see inside the castle, but no photographs are allowed. All I can say is that it's a wonderful medieval castle. Go visit!
The next day. This is Wenceslas Square
Indah at the Old Town Square - while waiting for the tour bus to Prague Castle
The Church of Our Lady before Tyn at the Old Town Square - there's some Disneyland feel to this sight, I feel
Arrived at Prague Castle. This is St. Vitus Cathedral in the castle compound.
Beautiful stained glass window of the cathedral
Another view of St. Vitus Cathedral
Tourists admiring the cathedral's exterior
A part of church and monastery of St George at Prague Castle - Adam & Eve tower. Adam is bigger, on the right
Walking the alley of Prague Castle
Must do - eat ice cream anywhere and everywhere during a trip
The view from St. Wenceslas´Vineyard at Prague Castle. The castle sits atop a hill, overlooking Prague city and Vltava river
We met Fatimah & Omar, 2 Malaysian medical students by Vlatava river
Hard Rock Cafe - in the four-story, V.J.Rott building with a beautifully decorated neo-Renaissance façade and frescos - is situated less than 50 meters from the famous Old Town Square
With Prague Astronomical Clock (Prague Orloj) - a medieval astronomical clock, mounted on the wall of Old Town City Hall in the Old Town Square
Trying trdlo - tastes just like a pretzel dusted with sugar
On the last day, we went back to Wenceslas Square
Wenceslas Square
That's a tram carriage converted to a cafe
I guess this is a tour office or something
Ahh, those days.. When we're still single :)
Yummy looking pastries
Having McDonald's sundae at Prague
I just love the illustration. I have no idea what it's saying
A photo at the Easter Market

Looking back at these photos is just like walking down a memory lane. So precious. During that time, Gaya & Mokrish were PhD students while Indah & I were completing our MSc at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Both Gaya & Mokrish have successfully completed their PhD and are now back in UPM as lecturers while Indah is now at University of Edinburgh, pursuing a PhD with dear husband and a toddler in tow :)
